DREAM investigator Dr. Dake Qi will present on “Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF): A Key Factor Mediating the Adverse Metabolic Effects of Atypical Antipsychotics

Bio: Dr. Dake Qi obtained his MD in China in 1999 and practiced as a surgeon for two years. He began a Master’s program in 2002 and then continued with a PhD study in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC with Dr. Brian Rodrigues. In 2007 he joined Dr. Lawrence Young’s laboratory at Yale Cardiovascular Research Center as a postdoctoral fellow. He has has developed research interests in pro-cytokine induced metabolic dysfunctions and their association to heart disease. So far, he has published more than 50 scientific articles. Dr. Qi’s lab has been funded by CIHR project grant and NSERC discovery grant since 2017.
