SUMMARY:CHRIM Research Rounds: New Toys at CHRIM
DESCRIPTION:PRESENTERS: \n\n\n\nRobert Beattie PhDBritt Drögemöller PhDChris Pascoe PhDPeter Thompson PhD and Lucy Marzban PhD (DREAM PIs)Galen Wright PhD \n\n\n\nDESCRIPTION: \n\n\n\nInterested in learning more about some of the recent equipment that has been purchased by early career researchers at CHRIM? Join us to hear more about the following new state-of-the-art infrastructure: \n\n\n\nSuper resolution and high throughput microscopy suite (Beattie and Marcogliese) – The CFI acquired\, Zeiss LSM 900 with Airyscan 2 offers high-resolution imaging with enhanced signal-to-noise ratio\, enabling detailed visualization of cellular structures and dynamic processes. It is ideal for live-cell imaging\, minimizing phototoxicity while capturing fast biological events. The NSERC RTI acquired\, Zeiss Axioscan 7 with 100-slide changer allows for high-throughput scanning (5x\, 10x\, 20x\, 40x)\, processing up to 100 slides at once\, with precision optics for consistent\, high-quality images in both fluorescence and brightfield modes. \n\n\n\nPrecision Genomics Suite (Drögemöller and Wright)– this suite of equipment allows for an integrated workflow for multi-omics single-cell analyses (Chromium iX)\, whole transcriptome single-cell spatial sequencing (Visium CytAssist)\, and high-resolution targeted sub-cellular spatial sequencing (Xenium) \n\n\n\nImage cytometry and cell sorting suite (Thompson and Marzban) – this suite of equipment combines an image cytometry system for simple fluorescence cell-based assays (Cellometer) and a cell sorter (FACSMelody) for sorting specific cell populations from biological samples. \n\n\n\nSpatial transcriptomics and targeted RNA arrays (Pascoe and Shariff) – this suite of equipment allows for analysis of RNA abundance in a spatial manner by using UV light to isolate probes from specific tissue regions that can be identified with morphology markers (Nanostring GeoMx). Equipment allows analysis of whole transcriptome\, as well as targeted protein or RNA panels from tissue\, fresh\, frozen\, or FFPE. nCounter system also allows for quantification of up to 800 RNA targets in a single sample of purified RNA (Frozen/FFPE) or cell lysates.
